Malibu Summer Radio

I created this station in 2007 after Pandora exposed me to the song "Malibu People" by John Phillips and, as I always dug the soft-rock sounds of "Please Come to Boston" and "It Never Rains in Southern California", I decided to engineer a station that would duplicate the playlist of WLTW 106.7 Lite-FM, a station I loved listening to when I lived in New York and New Jersey. For a few years, I had thought of this station as my grand achievement, my most successful attempt to make an XM station on Pandora. I thought that perhaps it had something to do with the fact that I used song seeds only ? I tried to ensure a great playlist by including the song seeds APRIL ANN by JOHN PHILLIPS, MAKE IT WITH YOU by BREAD, ANTICIPATION by CARLY SIMON, PIECES OF APRIL by DAVE LOGGINS, SAILING by CHRISTOPHER CROSS, NEVER AGAIN by ELVIS PRESLEY, I HAVE TO SAY I LOVE YOU IN A SONG by JIM CROCE, TIN MAN by AMERICA, and THE MOST BEAUTIFUL GIRL IN THE WORLD by TONY CHRISTIE. I was happy with the station as constructed until 2009, after I visited my parent's house in Massachusetts in the summer of 2008. Upon returning to New Jersey, I made the critical decision that this station should reflect the feelings instilled by a vacation in Massachusetts in June and July. In 2009 I returned to this station on Pandora and I elected to get rid of the various song seeds and instead, use artist seeds only, including America, Bread, Seal & Crofts and Christopher Cross. I wanted to create a station that would embody a Massachusetts in June that I found to contain all the ingredients for a soft-rock summer. This station is for soft-rock good times whether you're relaxing at the beach or enjoying a Midori sour with friends at the East Bay Grill, the state of Massachusetts is like summer in Malibu! In 2015 I added Al Stewart, Jim Croce and Jimmy Buffett's tune "Tin Cup Chalice" in 2015, because the album "A-1-A" really reminds me of bumming around on Plymouth Beach. Furthermore, I added Elvis Presley's "In the Ghetto" and Paul McCartney's "My Love". So sit down to a warm bowl of chowder, put on the Red Sox game in the background, and click on the link below and you just make find yourself transported to a land where the climate is neither too warm or too cold -- just perfect (July 10th, 2015). https://www.pandora.com/station/230115628956559534

King of Hearts Radio

THIS STATION IS DEVOTED TO FEMALE SINGERS THAT I ADMIRE, THEY ARE THE QUEENS OF MY HEART. THE TITLE COMES FROM THE LUCINDA WILLIAMS SONG, THE KING OF HEARTS. "LOVE IS A GAMBLE, I KNEW IT FROM THE START, WHOEVER'S DEALING THE CARDS, PLEASE DEAL ME THE KING OF HEARTS." WHAT A GREAT SONG! WILL IT COMES UP IN THE FIRST SEVEN SONGS YOU PLAY? PANDORA WILL MAKE IT HAPPEN! THE STATION INCLUDES FEMALE SINGER/SONGWRITERS LIKE LUCINDA WILLIAMS BUT ALSO INCLUDES BANDS WITH FEMALE SINGERS LIKE THE COWBOY JUNKIES. BONNIE RAITT IS ALSO A BIG FAVORITE BUT SHE HAS BEEN MOVED OVER TO MY "GOOD VIBES RADIO" STATION, SO SWITCH OVER TO "GOOD VIBES" IF YOU REALLY WANT TO DIG BONNIE. THIS RADIO STATION IS GIRLS WITH AN EDGE ONLY! WORKING IN A ROCK AND ROLL/COUNTRY FORMAT, THIS STATION FEATURES ANI DEFRANCO, MELISSA ETHERIDGE, NEKO CASE, SHERYL CROW, SHAWN COLVIN, PATTI LOVELESS, CAT POWER, KATHLEEN EDWARDS AND ALLISON MOORER. MARGO TIMMINS FROM COWBOY JUNKIES IS A BIG FAVORITE. I'VE ALSO INCLUDED TONI PRICE, SARAH McLACHLAN, PATTI WHITTEN, SUE FOLEY, NORAH JONES, MAZZY STAR AND MAGGIE SIMPSON, GINA VILLALOBOS, MICHELLE FEATHERSTONE, ALISON RAY, ROSEANNE CASH, GRETCHEN WILSON, LAURA CANTRELL AND MORE.... I ADDED BETH ORTON AS A SECOND ARTIST SEED TO GIVE THE STATION MORE OF A POP EDGE. IF HEM'S "NOT CALIFORNIA" IS ANY INDICATION OF THE RESULTS, THEN THIS WAS A SUCCESSFUL MOVE. HOWEVER, I MUST NOT LOSE TRACK OF THE FACT THAT MY ORIGINAL INTENTION WAS TO CREATE A STATION THAT WAS 100% DEDICATED TO LUCINDA WILLIAMS. I TEMPORARILY REPLACED MARGO TIMMINS WITH BETH ORTON BUT ADDING COWBOY JUNKIES AGAIN APPEALS TO ME. FOR THE MOMENT, COWBOY JUNKIES HAVE BEEN ADDED TO "MODERN POP" RADIO. (Written in Summer, 2008) Seven years later, I decided to drop Beth Orton and replace her with Beth Hart. I also added Neko Case and Susan Tedeschi. Also included is two song seeds by Lucinda Williams: "Sweet Side" and "Those Three Days". Eventually, if this station's play becomes clogged, I may add Lucinda's album _World_Without_Tears_ as song seeds. I've never listened to that album but I can remember Annie Armstrong purchasing it in New York City soon after it came out in 2003. I am very pleased with this station's play; it almost never plays a male artist (Written in Summer, 2014). https://www.pandora.com/station/204919796020062382
